What insulation material do you use in refrigerated truck bodies?
We use our proprietary MPP (Micro-Porous Polypropylene) insulation boards manufactured with supercritical CO₂ physical foaming technology. Thermal conductivity is 0.028-0.035 W/(m·K) — comparable to PU foam but with major advantages: food-contact safe (no chemical blowing agents, zero off-gassing), 100% recyclable thermoplastic, and better long-term moisture resistance. The panels are faced with double-sided PET composite film for structural integrity and moisture barrier.
What temperature range can the reefer body maintain?
With an appropriate refrigeration unit (not included — we supply the insulated body only), our reefer bodies maintain internal temperatures from -25°C to +12°C. The 50mm wall insulation and 60mm floor insulation provide sufficient thermal barrier for frozen goods (-18°C), chilled goods (0-4°C), and climate-controlled transport (+12°C). Insulation thickness can be increased for extreme cold applications or reduced for cost optimization in temperate climates.
Is the insulation food-contact safe?
Yes. Our MPP insulation uses supercritical CO₂ physical foaming — no chemical blowing agents, no residual chemicals, no off-gassing. The material has been SGS tested for food-contact compliance. This is a significant advantage over traditional PU foam insulation, which uses chemical blowing agents and may release volatile compounds. For direct food contact applications (meat trucks, dairy transport), our MPP panels provide a cleaner, safer solution.
